When you first log into your portal, you will land on the Administrator page. There are several features here which are only available to those with a login "admin" level access. From here, we are going to use the Hardware Configuration section to add and then assign a device to a user.
Firstly, log into your portal and locate the Hardware Configuration section:
Now click Add Hardware:
You can now input the particulars of the handset in the fields. Certain fields require specific data and are explained below:
Hardware Name: This field is displayed when you assigning the device to a user account. Best practice is to use the MAC address of the device as it is easily identifiable.
MAC Address: Input the MAC address. This must be in CAPITALS and contain colons : to separate the octets. i.e 00:AA:11:BB:33:CC
Type: There is a drop down menu here which gives you the option to select either if the D series phones, please select the appropriate one. Note, there may other devices in here too, which may be added over time.
Profile: Select the appropriate profile available. This may be D4 Standard or D5 Standard. Note, there may other profiles in here too, which may be added over time.
Managed By: This field is essential to the Assign Hardware section next. Please ensure you select the Reseller that customer belongs to. If it is a direct customer, select Admin.
Description: This is an optional field Please omit or add information as you require.
ASCII Key: In most cases, leave this blank. You will be advised by support if this is required for the specific handset you are using.
Inventory ID: Again, this is an optional field. You may wish to give each of your devices a unique code, but it is not required by the portal.
If you are only adding one device, click the Save button and move onto the Assigning Hardware section. If more devices are to be added, Click New Hardware and repeat the process until all devices are loaded, then press "Save".
If you wish to delete a device from the table before it is saved, click the Bin icon to the left of the row the device is on.
Once the Save button has been pressed, devices can only be removed by contacting support, so please ensure the details are correct before pressing Save!
Once the hardware has been added, click Assign Hardware:
From the drop down menu, select the reseller, or if it is a direct customer the device it to be assigned to, select the customer.
Then select the customer from the second drop down menu.
Identify which account/user you wish to assign the device to, then, from the drop down menu "Model", select the model of the handset - i.e. Boom D4, Boom D5 etc.
Finally, select the device from the "Serial Number" drop down. This is where the Hardware Name is displayed from the Add Hardware section. You may notice that there could be several entries of the same MAC address, suffixed by a port number. This is to identify which SIP line on the handset you wish to assign it to. In most cases, this will be Port 1
Once the final selection is made, the portal will automatically assign the device and generate a basic config file from the selected accounts profile.
You can now follow the guide, The Basics - Handset Configuration to connect and set the handset up for auto provisioning.
